About the Vineyard

L’Enchantoir’s history has always been linked to the vines

Hidden away in the heart of the Saumur area, the charming classified village “Le Puy-Notre-Dame” has been home to vines since the 16th Century. Since the beginning of its history in the 19th Century, l’Enchantoir’s vineyard has seen many vine growers and winemakers working on its clayey-chalky grounds. The richness of the Tuffeau stone in the soils is favourable to wine making and ageing, giving renowned rich, delicate and complex characteristics.

The vineyard is spread out across 17 hectares of land, where our traditional Saumur vines blossom; Chenin, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. We cultivate our vines with respect to the tradition, in order to preserve the richness of our terroir and to improve our quality each and every year.

All of our wines are certified under the Appellation (AOC) system and also certified Organic (Ecocert) since 2016. Thanks to our distinctive terroir, our red wines are actually renowned for being part of the Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame appellation. These wines are made, aged and matured in our historical and listed remarkable courtyard, where we balance traditional methods and modern technology to produce the best.

Our underground troglodyte caves can be visited from our courtyard – just a small insight into the large network found in the Puy-Notre-Dame Terroir – caves which are perfect for stocking and preserving our wines.
